Product Usage

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

For optimal performance, it is crucial to lubricate the new connecting link before joining both ends of the chain (refer to Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip faces away from the chain drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type features Press Fit Outer Plates, requiring the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press the side plates. For Rivet type links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the connecting link plates and precisely rivet the pin head to the recommended flare dimensions. Adjust chain sag according to the motorcycle owner's manual; the standard sag with rider load is 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Consult your distributor, local dealer, or the SFR chain catalog or application chart to verify the suitability of this chain and connecting link for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage can cause severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint. If your motorcycle uses an endless chain or a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), employ the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to correctly position the new chain (refer to Fig. A).
