• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating the new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is positioned opposite the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ-type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates that necessitate using the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates. For the rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), utilize the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to accurately press fit the link plates and precisely rivet the pin head according to our recommended flare dimensions. Finally, adjust the chain sag following your motorcycle owner's manual recommendations. The standard chain sag with rider load is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Ensure you consult your distributor or local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to verify if this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and use can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a comparable cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to set the new chain in position (Fig. A).
