• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before connecting both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is set opposite the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates, which necessitate the use of the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to properly press on the side plates. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool should be utilized to press fit the connecting link plates and precisely rivet the pin head according to our recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, always refer to the motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with the load of riders is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor, local dealer, or check the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to ensure that this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Improper selection and use can cause serious damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), utilize the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Fit the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By turning the rear wheel, the new chain will move into position (Fig. A).
