• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

For optimal performance and longevity, we highly recommend lubricating a new connecting link prior to joining both ends of the new chain (refer to Fig. B). For Clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), it is crucial to ensure the open end of the clip faces away from the chain's drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ connecting link includes Press Fit Outer Plates which necessitate the use of the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates. For Rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool should be employed to press fit the connecting link plates and accurately flare the pin head according to our specifications. For proper chain sag adjustment, please consult your motorcycle owner's manual. The recommended chain sag with rider load is 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always verify the compatibility of this chain and connecting link with your motorcycle by consulting your distributor, local dealer, or the SFR chain catalogue/application chart. Incorrect selection and use can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. To remove the old chain, cut it at its joint part. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), utilize the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Secure the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to position the new chain correctly (refer to Fig. A).
