• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before connecting both ends of the chain. (Fig. B) For clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), the open end of the clip must be oriented opposite the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ-type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates that require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates. For rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to precisely press fit the connecting link plates and flare the pin heads to the recommended dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, follow the guidelines in your motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with the rider's load is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor or local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart, to ensure this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and use can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. Detach the old chain at its joint. If your motorcycle has an endless chain or a chain with a rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By turning the rear wheel, the new chain will move into position (Fig. A).
