Product Usage

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For a clip-type connecting link (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip faces opposite to the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates that necessitate the use of the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press the side plates securely. When using a rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), employ the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the connecting link plates and precisely rivet the pin head according to our specified flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, follow the motorcycle owner's manual recommendations. The standard chain sag, with the rider's load, is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor, local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to ensure this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Improper selection and use can lead to serious damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle originally had an endless chain or a chain with a rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will move into position (Fig. A).
