Product Usage

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before connecting both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is set opposite to the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates that require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for side plate installation. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press fit the connecting link plates and precisely rivet the pin head to our recommended flare dimensions. Adjust chain sag according to your motorcycle owner's manual; the standard sag with riders' load is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor, local dealer, or check the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to verify the chain and connecting link compatibility with your motorcycle. Improper selection and use can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. For motorcycles equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By turning the rear wheel, the new chain will move into position (Fig. A).
