• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend that you lubricate the new connecting link before attaching both ends of the chain (see Fig. B). For clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), the open end of the clip must face away from the chain drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates, which require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for proper installation. For rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the connecting link plates and precisely flare the pin head as per our recommended dimensions. Ensure to adjust chain sag according to your motorcycle owner's manual, with a standard sag of 10 mm under load (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor or local dealer, or reference the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to confirm that this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle model. Incorrect selection and usage can lead to significant damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar tool for removal.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to guide the new chain into position (see Fig. A).
