• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

For optimal performance and longevity of your Sfr 428 520 525 530 O-Ring High-Performance Motocross Chain and Sprockets Kit, we highly recommend the careful lubrication of the new connecting link before joining both ends of the chain (Fig. B). When using the clip-type connecting link (FJ, RJ), position the open end of the clip to face opposite the chain's driving direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates, necessitating the use of the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for side plate installation. In the case of rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), employ the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool for an exact press fit of the plates and accurate rivet pin head flaring as per specified dimensions. For adjusting the chain sag, strictly follow the guidance provided in the motorcycle owner's manual. The ideal chain sag, when loaded with riders, should be precisely 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Prior to installation, ensure compatibility by consulting with your distributor or local dealer, or by referencing the SFR chain catalogue or application chart. Using an incompatible chain or connecting link may result in significant damage or pose a safety risk.

2. Carefully cut the old chain at its joint using the appropriate tool. For motorcycles equipped with an endless chain or a rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), employ the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a comparable cutting tool to safely remove the old chain.

3. Securely attach the new chain to the end of the old chain using a new connecting link. By methodically rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will seamlessly be pulled into its designated position (Fig. A).
