• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We highly recommend applying lubricant to a new connecting link before joining both ends of your new chain (see Fig. B). For clip-type links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is facing away from the chain drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type, featuring Press Fit Outer Plates, requires the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for precise securing. For rivet-type links (ZJ), employ the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to expertly press-fit the plates and rivet the pin head to our specified flare dimensions. Refer to your motorcycle owner's manual for chain sag adjustments, keeping in mind that standard chain sag under load is 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always seek advice from your distributor, local dealer, or consult the SFR chain catalog or application chart to confirm that this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and use can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint. For motorcycles equipped with an endless chain or a rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), utilize the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a fresh connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, you will guide the new chain into position (see Fig. A).
