• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

For optimal performance and longevity, we highly recommend lubricating the new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (refer to Fig. B). When dealing with Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure that the open end of the clip faces the opposite direction of the chain drive (see Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link comes with Press Fit Outer Plates, which require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for secure attachment. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), utilize the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the plates and precisely rivet the pin head according to our specified flare dimensions. Adjust the chain sag in accordance with the recommendations of your motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with the rider's weight applied is 10 mm (refer to Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always verify the compatibility of this chain and connecting link with your motorcycle by consulting your distributor, local dealer, or referring to the SFR chain catalog or application chart. Incorrect selection and usage can lead to serious damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle uses an endless chain or a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), employ the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar device for safe removal.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to correctly position the new chain (see Fig. A).
