• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

For optimal performance, we recommend lubricating a new connecting link prior to joining both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). In the case of Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure that the open end of the clip faces away from the chain's drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link is equipped with Press Fit Outer Plates and requires the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for proper plate pressing. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), we suggest using the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to securely press fit the connecting link plates and accurately flare the pin head. Refer to the motorcycle owner's manual for chain sag adjustment. The recommended chain sag with rider load is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always verify with your distributor, local dealer, or consult the SFR chain catalogue/application chart to ensure this chain and connecting link match your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. Detach the old chain at its joint. For motorcycles with an endless chain or a chain featuring a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), utilize the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or an equivalent cutting instrument.

3. Connect the new chain to the end of the old one using a fresh connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will be correctly seated in position (Fig. A).
