• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before joining the ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For a Clip-type connecting link (FJ, RJ), ensure the clip's open end faces opposite the chain's drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates requiring the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for proper side plate installation. For a Rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to accurately press fit the link plates and rivet the pin head to our specified flare dimensions. To adjust chain sag, refer to the motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag, with rider load, is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor, local dealer, or the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to ensure this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. An improper selection or use can cause significant damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint. If your motorcycle has an endless chain or a Rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool for removal.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to position the new chain correctly (Fig. A).
