• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend that you lubricate a new connecting link before connecting both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is set opposite to the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ-type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates, requiring the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for proper side plate installation. For rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the connecting link plates and precisely rivet the pin head according to our specified flare dimensions. To adjust chain sag, adhere to the recommendations in your motorcycle owner's manual. Standard chain sag, with the load of riders, should be 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Be sure to consult your distributor or local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart, to ensure that this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Improper selection and use may result in serious damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. For motorcycles equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool to remove it.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By turning the rear wheel, the new chain will move into position (Fig. A).
