• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

To ensure peak performance and longevity, we highly recommend lubricating the new connecting link prior to joining the chain ends (refer to Fig. B). For Clip type links (FJ, RJ), make sure the clip's open end faces opposite the drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ link includes Press Fit Outer Plates, requiring the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for proper side plate installation. For Rivet type links (ZJ), utilize the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool for precise plate press fitting and correct pin head flaring as per our guidelines. For chain sag adjustment, please consult your motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with rider load is 10 mm (illustrated in Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always check with your distributor, local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalogue/application chart to ensure this chain and connecting link are compatible with your motorcycle. Improper selection and use can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint. If your motorcycle has an endless chain or a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), employ the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar tool to cut it.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to correctly position the new chain (refer to Fig. A).
