• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating the new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (refer to Fig. B). For the Clip type connecting link (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip faces opposite the chain drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates, requiring the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for pressing on the side plates. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the connecting link plates and precisely rivet the pin head according to our specified flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, adhere to the motorcycle owner's manual recommendations, with a standard chain sag of 10 mm when loaded with the rider's weight (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor or local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalog or application chart to confirm if this chain and connecting link are appropriate for your motorcycle. Improper selection and use can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle has an endless chain or a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to position the new chain correctly (refer to Fig. A).
