• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before connecting both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For Clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is set opposite the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates that require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates. For Rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press fit the connecting link plates and precisely flare the pin head to the recommended dimensions. For adjusting chain sag, follow the motorcycle owner's manual recommendations. The standard chain sag with the load of riders is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Consult your distributor or local dealer, or verify with the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to ensure this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Improper selection and usage can lead to serious damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle uses an endless chain or a Rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), employ the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Fit the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will come into position (Fig. A).
