• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend thoroughly lubricating the new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (refer to Fig. B). For the Clip type connecting link (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is oriented opposite to the chain drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates, necessitating the use of the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for side plate installation. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool must be used to press-fit the connecting link plates and accurately rivet the pin head, adhering to our recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, follow the motorcycle owner's manual recommendations, maintaining a standard chain sag of 10 mm with the rider's load (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor or local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalog or application chart to verify the suitability of this chain and connecting link for your motorcycle. Improper selection and use can result in severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle has an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), employ the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to position the new chain (refer to Fig. A).
