Product Usage

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We highly recommend lubricating a new connecting link prior to uniting the ends of your new chain (Fig. B). For clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the clip's open end faces away from the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type link features Press Fit Outer Plates necessitating the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for side plate installation. For rivet type links (ZJ), employ the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to accurately flare and rivet pin heads to our specified dimensions. Adjust chain sag according to your motorcycle owner's manual, with a standard load-induced sag of 10 mm (Fig. D).

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Consult your distributor, local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to ensure this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage could result in severe damage or injury.

2. Disassemble the old chain at its joint. If your motorcycle utilizes an endless chain or one with a Rivet type link (ZJ), use either the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar implement to cut it.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a fresh connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to smoothly position the new chain (Fig. A).
