• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ) must have the open end of the clip opposite the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type has Press Fit Outer Plates requiring the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for side plate installation. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool for precise plate fitting and pin head riveting as per our flare dimensions recommendation. For chain sag adjustment, follow the motorcycle owner's manual. Standard sag with rider load is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor, local dealer, or the SFR chain catalogue/application chart to ensure this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage can result in severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to position the new chain correctly (Fig. A).
