Product Usage

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We highly recommend lubricating the new connecting link before connecting both ends of the chain (see Fig. B). For Clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip faces opposite the chain drive direction (refer to Fig. C). The FJ type features Press Fit Outer Plates, requiring the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for side plate pressing. For Rivet type links (ZJ), utilize the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit link plates and rivet the pin head precisely as per our recommended flare dimensions. Adjust chain sag following the motorcycle owner's manual guidelines; the standard sag with the rider's load is 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor or local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalog or application chart to confirm if this chain and connecting link are compatible with your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint section. If your motorcycle uses an endless chain or a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one with a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to position the new chain correctly (see Fig. A).
