Product Usage

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

For optimal performance, we highly recommend lubricating the new connecting link before assembling both ends of the chain (as illustrated in Fig. B). For clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the clip's open end opposes the chain drive direction (refer to Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features press-fit outer plates, necessitating the use of the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to secure the side plates. When using a rivet type connecting link (ZJ), employ the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the plates and precisely flare the rivet pin head to our recommended dimensions. Adjust chain sag according to the motorcycle owner's manual, with a standard sag measure of 10 mm under load (see Fig. D).

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always verify with your distributor or local dealer, or consult the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to ensure compatibility of this chain and connecting link with your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and use can result in severe damage or injury.

2. To replace the old chain, cut it at its joint. For motorcycles originally equipped with an endless chain or a chain using a rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), utilize the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar tool to perform the task.

3. Securely attach the new chain to the tail of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will seamlessly align in place (see Fig. A).
