• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

To maximize the performance and longevity of your Genuine Motorcycle Spare Parts Kit, we highly recommend ensuring proper lubrication of the new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (refer to Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), make sure the open end of the clip is positioned opposite to the chain drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link comes with Press Fit Outer Plates that require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for accurately pressing the side plates. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), utilize the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the connecting link plates and rivet the pin head according to our specified flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, strictly follow the motorcycle owner's manual recommendations. The standard chain sag with the rider's load is 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor or local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalog or application chart to verify whether this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and application can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint section. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or an equivalent cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one with a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to properly position the new chain (refer to Fig. A).
