Product Usage

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We highly recommend lubricating the new connecting link before assembling the chain (refer to Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip faces away from the chain drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type features Press Fit Outer Plates and requires the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for proper assembly. For Rivet type links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the plates and rivet the pin head precisely as per our recommended flare dimensions. Adjust chain sag according to the motorcycle owner's manual, typically 10 mm with the rider's weight (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Consult your distributor, local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalog or application chart to ensure the chain and connecting link suit your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint. If your motorcycle has an endless chain or Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar device.

3. Attach the new chain to the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to position the new chain correctly (refer to Fig. A).
