• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We highly recommend lubricating the new connecting link before securely joining both ends of the new chain (refer to Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip faces opposite the chain drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates, requiring the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates precisely. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to accurately press-fit the connecting link plates and rivet the pin head, adhering to our specified flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, follow the motorcycle owner's manual guidelines. The standard chain sag with the rider's load is 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor, local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalog or application chart to verify the compatibility of this chain and connecting link with your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and use can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle uses an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a comparable cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to position the new chain correctly (refer to Fig. A).
