Product Usage

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend you lubricate the new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For Clip type connecting link (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is opposite the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates, which require the use of the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates. For Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), utilize the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the connecting link plates and accurately rivet the pin head to our recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, adhere to the motorcycle owner's manual recommendations. The standard chain sag with rider weight is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor, local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to ensure this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage can result in significant damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By turning the rear wheel, the new chain will move into position (Fig. A).
