• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

To ensure optimal performance and longevity when installing your new chain, we highly recommend lubricating the connecting link prior to joining the chain ends (refer to Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip faces opposite the chain drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link has Press Fit Outer Plates, requiring the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for side plate installation. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), utilize the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the plates and rivet the pin head to our specified flare dimensions with precision. For adjusting chain sag, follow the motorcycle owner's manual guidelines. The standard chain sag with rider load is 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always verify compatibility by consulting your distributor, local dealer, or the SFR chain catalog/application chart to ensure the appropriate chain and connecting link selection for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. To remove the old chain, cut at the joint part. For motorcycles equipped with an endless chain or a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the old chain's end using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to situate the new chain correctly (refer to Fig. A).
