Product Usage

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For the clip-type connecting link (FJ, RJ), the open end of the clip must face opposite to the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates, which require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates securely. For the rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the connecting link plates and precisely rivet the pin head as per our recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, adhere to the motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with the rider's load is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor, local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalog or application chart to confirm whether this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage may result in severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle has an endless chain or a chain with a rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), utilize the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will move into position (Fig. A).
