• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For a clip-type connecting link (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip faces opposite the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ-type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates that necessitate using the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates. For a rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), employ the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the connecting link plates and accurately rivet the pin head according to our recommended flare dimensions. 5. For chain sag adjustment, adhere to the recommendations in your motorcycle owner's manual; the standard chain sag with rider load is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor, local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to confirm that this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage can result in severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will be positioned correctly (Fig. A).
