Product Usage

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating the new connecting link before connecting both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is set opposite the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ-type connecting link has Press Fit Outer Plates that necessitate using the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates. For rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press fit the connecting link plates and precisely rivet the pin head to the recommended flare dimensions. To adjust the chain sag, follow the recommendations in your motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with the load of riders should be 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Consult your distributor, local dealer, or check the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to ensure this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Improper selection and use may lead to serious damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle has an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar tool to cut it.

3. Fit the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By turning the rear wheel, the new chain will come into position (Fig. A).
