• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

Lubrication and Precise Installation: We emphatically advise lubricating the new connecting link prior to joining both ends of the new chain (see Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is oriented oppositely to the chain drive direction (refer to Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link includes Press Fit Outer Plates, requiring the use of the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for accurate side plate pressing. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), employ the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to adeptly press-fit the connecting link plates and accurately rivet the pin head, adhering to our recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, follow the motorcycle owner's manual instructions. The standard chain sag with the rider's weight applied is 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always verify compatibility: Consult your distributor, local dealer, or reference the SFR chain catalog or application chart to ensure that this chain and connecting link are appropriate for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage can lead to significant damage or injury.

2. Safe Removal: Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle features an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar tool for safe removal.

3. Efficient Installation: Connect the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to position the new chain (see Fig. A).
