• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend you lubricate a new connecting link before connecting both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), the open end of the clip must be positioned opposite to the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates, which necessitate the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates. For Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press fit the connecting link plates and precisely rivet the pin head by the recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, adhere to the recommendations in the motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with the load of riders is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor/local dealer or verify with the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to ensure this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Improper selection and use may result in severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle came with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), utilize the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will move into position (Fig. A).
