• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before connecting both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For Clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), the open end of the clip must face the opposite direction of the chain drive (Fig. C). The FJ-type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates that require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for proper installation. For Rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool for precision fitting and riveting, adhering to our flare dimension guidelines. Lastly, adjust chain sag according to your motorcycle owner's manual; the standard sag with rider load is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Consult your distributor/local dealer or refer to the SFR chain catalog or application chart to ensure this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Improper selection and use may lead to severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint. If your motorcycle originally came with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to position the new chain correctly (Fig. A).
