Product Usage

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We highly advise lubricating the new connecting link prior to attaching both ends of the chain (see Fig. B). For Clip type links (FJ, RJ), make certain the clip's open end opposes the direction of the chain drive (refer to Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link comes with Press Fit Outer Plates, requiring the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates securely. For Rivet type links (ZJ), utilize the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the plates and precisely rivet the pin head according to our specified flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustments, follow the recommendations in your motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with a rider's load is 10 mm (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor or local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalog or application chart to confirm that this chain and connecting link are appropriate for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint section. If your motorcycle has an endless chain or a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or an equivalent cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the old one's end using a new connecting link. Rotate the rear wheel to properly position the new chain (see Fig. A).
