• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We highly advise lubricating a new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), make sure the open end of the clip is oriented opposite the chain's drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates that necessitate the use of the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to securely press on the side plates. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), employ the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool for an exact press fit of the connecting link plates and precise flaring of the pin head, following our guidelines. For chain sag adjustment, consult your motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with rider load is set at 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always verify with your distributor, local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalogue/application chart to ensure compatibility of this chain and connecting link with your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage can result in significant damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint section. If your motorcycle has an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), utilize the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a comparable cutting tool.

3. Connect the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will be properly positioned (Fig. A).
