• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before joining both ends of the fresh chain (Fig. B). For clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the clip's open end faces opposite the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ-type connecting link has Press Fit Outer Plates, necessitating the use of the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to affix the side plates securely. For rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), employ the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to precisely press-fit the connecting link plates and rivet the pin head according to the flare dimensions we recommend. For adjusting chain sag, adhere to the guidelines in your motorcycle owner's manual. Standard chain sag with rider load should be 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor, local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalog or application chart to confirm that this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and use can result in severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle came with an endless chain or a chain with a rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will move into position (Fig. A).
