Product Usage

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before merging the ends of a new chain (Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the clip's open end faces away from the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type has Press Fit Outer Plates, necessitating the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for precise side plate pressing. For Rivet type links (ZJ), employ the MOTOMAX KM500R Tool to meticulously press fit the link plates and rivet pin head to our recommended flare dimensions. For optimal chain sag, adhere to the specifications in your motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with rider load is 10 mm (Fig. D).

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. To ensure compatibility, consult your distributor or check the SFR chain catalogue/application chart to verify if this chain and connecting link suit your motorcycle. Incorrect selection or usage could result in severe damage or injury.

2. Carefully cut the old chain at its joint. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), utilize the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting apparatus.

3. Attach the new chain to the old one using a fresh connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, align the new chain in its proper position (Fig. A).
