Product Usage

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before connecting both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is set opposite to the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ-type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates which necessitates the use of the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates. For rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), utilize the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to accurately press fit the connecting link plates and precisely rivet the pin head according to our recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, adhere to the recommendations in your motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with the load of riders is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor/local dealer or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to verify if this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Improper selection and use can result in severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will move into position (Fig. A).
