• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

For optimal performance, it is highly recommended to lubricate a new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (see Fig. B). For a clip-type connecting link (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip is positioned opposite to the chain's drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ type link features Press Fit Outer Plates, requiring the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for side plate pressing. For a rivet-type link (ZJ), utilize the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the plates and rivet the pin head accurately as per our recommended flare dimensions. Adjust chain sag according to the motorcycle owner's manual, maintaining a standard sag of 10 mm with rider load (see Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor, local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalogue/application chart to confirm the compatibility of this chain and connecting link with your motorcycle. Incorrect selection or use may result in severe damage or injury.

2. Remove the old chain at its joint. If your motorcycle features an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), employ the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool for removal.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will be gradually positioned (see Fig. A).
