• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

For optimal performance and safety, we highly recommend lubricating any new connecting link before connecting both ends of the chain (refer to Fig. B). When using a clip-type connecting link (FJ, RJ), the open end of the clip should face away from the chain drive direction (refer to Fig. C). The FJ type necessitates the use of the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates' Press Fit Outer Plates. For a rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), employ the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to accurately press fit the connecting link plates and flare the pin head according to our recommended dimensions. For chain sag adjustments, always adhere to the guidelines outlined in your motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag, with the load of the riders, should be 10 mm (refer to Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Ensure you consult your distributor/local dealer or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to confirm if this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage may result in severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the existing chain at its joint. If your motorcycle originally featured an endless chain or a chain with a rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), you will need the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will smoothly come into place (refer to Fig. A).
