• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating the new connecting link before assembling it with the new chain (Fig. B). For clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip faces away from the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type features Press Fit Outer Plates which require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for proper installation. For rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press fit the link plates and accurately rivet the pin head, adhering to our recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, refer to the motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag under rider load is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor, local dealer, or refer to the SFR chain catalogue or application chart to ensure this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage may result in severe damage or injury.

2. Remove the old chain at the joint part. If your motorcycle comes with an endless chain or a chain with a rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), utilize the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will move into position (Fig. A).
