Product Usage

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We highly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For Clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the open end of the clip faces the opposite direction of the chain's drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates that require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates. For Rivet-type connecting links (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press-fit the connecting link plates and precisely flare the pin head as per our recommendations. For chain sag adjustment, please refer to the motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with rider load is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor, local dealer, or the SFR chain catalogue/application chart to confirm the compatibility of this chain and connecting link with your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and use can result in serious damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet-type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By turning the rear wheel, the new chain will be positioned correctly (Fig. A).
