• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We strongly recommend lubricating a new connecting link before connecting both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For the clip type connecting link (FJ, RJ), the open end of the clip must face opposite the chain drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates that require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for pressing on the side plates. For the rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool to press fit the connecting link plates and precisely rivet the pin head according to our recommended flare dimensions. For chain sag adjustment, follow the guidelines in the motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with the rider's load is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Ensure you consult your distributor, local dealer, or the SFR chain catalogue/application chart to confirm that this chain and connecting link are suitable for your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage may lead to severe damage or injury.

2. Remove the old chain at its joint. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By turning the rear wheel, the new chain will move into position (Fig. A)
