• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

It is highly advised to lubricate the new connecting link before joining the ends of the new chain (illustrated in Fig. B). For Clip-type connecting links (FJ, RJ), it's crucial that the clip's open end faces opposite the chain's drive direction (see Fig. C). The FJ-type link features Press Fit Outer Plates that require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for precise pressing. For Rivet-type links (ZJ), the MOTOMAX KM500R Tool is essential to correctly press fit the link plates and accurately flare the pin head. Refer to your motorcycle owner's manual for adjusting chain sag, which should be 10 mm with the rider load (see Fig. D).

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Verify the compatibility of this chain and connecting link with your motorcycle by consulting your distributor, local dealer, or the SFR chain catalog/application chart. Improper selection and application can result in severe damage or injury.

2. To remove the old chain, cut it at its joint. If your motorcycle features an endless chain or a Rivet-type link (ZJ), employ the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or an equivalent cutting instrument.

3. Fasten the new chain to the old one's end using a new connecting link. By rotating the rear wheel, the new chain will smoothly glide into position (illustrated in Fig. A).
