• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

We highly recommend applying lubricant to a new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), ensure the clip's open end is oriented opposite to the chain's drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link features Press Fit Outer Plates, necessitating the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool to press on the side plates. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), utilize the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool for precise fitting and pin head flaring, as per our guidelines. For chain sag adjustments, refer to the motorcycle owner's manual. The standard chain sag with rider load is 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always consult your distributor, local dealer, or the SFR chain catalogue/application chart to confirm the compatibility of this chain and connecting link with your motorcycle. Incorrect selection and usage can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. Cut the old chain at its joint part. If your motorcycle is equipped with an endless chain or a chain with a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a comparable cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. By turning the rear wheel, the new chain will be correctly positioned (Fig. A).
