• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

For a seamless installation and optimal performance, we strongly advise lubricating the new connecting link before joining both ends of the new chain (Fig. B). For Clip type connecting links (FJ, RJ), make sure to position the open end of the clip opposite to the chain's drive direction (Fig. C). The FJ type connecting link comes with Press Fit Outer Plates that require the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool for precise pressing. For Rivet type connecting links (ZJ), the MOTOMAX KM500R Cutting & Riveting Tool is essential for press fitting the connecting link plates and accurately flaring the pin head, following our guidelines. Refer to your motorcycle owner's manual for chain sag adjustment instructions. The standard chain sag with rider load should be 10 mm (Fig. D).

 

• SELECTION & INSTALLATION

1. Always ensure compatibility by consulting your distributor, local dealer, or the SFR chain catalogue/application chart. Using an incorrect chain or connecting link can lead to severe damage or injury.

2. Remove the old chain by cutting it at the joint part. For motorcycles equipped with an endless chain or a Rivet type connecting link (ZJ), use the SFR Cutting & Riveting Tool or a similar cutting tool.

3. Attach the new chain to the end of the old one using a new connecting link. Turn the rear wheel to position the new chain correctly (Fig. A).
